The Healthiest Apple Pie Crumble

This entry is dedicated to everyone who loves sweets but hates the pounds that come with it. If you knew me, you would know that I have quite a sweet tooth. Since I’m trying to get back in shape, I was inspired to come up with a healthy yet delicious desert. I am super excited about this one! Wait for It… it is sugar free, vegan, and gluten free. Even though it’s almost everything free, it still tastes great!

Sugar is bad for you. We hear that on every corner. Does that mean if I decide to have a sugar free diet, I'm not to have a desert ever in my life? That would be quite an adjustment. I don’t think I’m ready for that! Great news is that there are a few natural and healthy sugar substitutes and natural sweeteners. I am going to use a couple of them in today’s recipe. Ok, enough with anticipation! Let’ get started!

1. Start off with peeling and slicing your apples in moon-like shape and place them into A sautee pan.

2. Add all the spices and cook on medium to medium-low heat until golden brown. Stir well.

4. For a crumble, process your almond flour, nuts, and dates in the food processor. Add oats and mix well.

5. Generously sprinkle the crumble on top of your Apple pie filling. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil on top.

6. Bake for 40 minutes at 375F.

7. Serve with a little bit of sugar-free whipped cream and sprinkle with chopped fresh mint leaves.

There you go! Simple, fast, and delicious desert. Most importantly you can enjoy it without feeling guilty. Oh, also if you want to go completely vegan, another option is to top it with homemade strawberry-banana sherbet. Bon Appetite!
